After reading many magazines of fall's latest trends and seeing runway show photos of fall collections shown in New York, I've found it almost funny to see varsity-style jackets as one them. Still being in high school, it's kind of bizarre but cool to see something like this on runway shows of designers like Alexander Wang and Philip Lim when we see these jackets on a daily basis. In some ways, it's like a leather jacket. Versatile, boyish, and classic.
Though I can't say lettermans are the most weather-appropriate for this time of year where I live (super heavy and warm!), varsity-inspired jackets are popping up everywhere with variations of shrunken, fitted shapes and different kinds of fabric like cashmere and cotton, so it's not just for the so-called "jocks" in high school. Would you still wear a letterman?
